Flighty friends

Whenever Sean goes on a flight, he brings along his two soft toys, Dogsby (a Ty dog) and Bryson (tortoise formerly known as Mary and formerly belonging to Brian), and a Carters blanket I had bought for him even before he was born.

On our flight out of Moscow last week, during take-off, I looked across to where Sean was sitting and saw this.

I think he felt his friends weren't getting a good enough view, so after a while, he carried them up for a better view from the window.

Yes, yes, Sean's 7 going on 8, and his only friends are still his soft toys. These two regular passengers take up half his backpack space. It's a good thing they don't require extra tickets!

That's so cute. My Sean is 9 but still sleeps with his row of stuff toys lined up on his bed. Refuses to let them go.

Hehe...boys and their soft toys. At one time, Sean would also sleep with many of them at a time, till I said no, and then he would choose 1 friend to sleep with each night. haha.

When Brian was younger, he was as obsessed with his soft toys too :)

Our kids have this in common - they're all in love with their stuffed toys! Lesley-Anne still has so many that they undergo rotation on her shelf and Andre always sleeps with one at night. Right now, it's the Mr Bean teddy :)

I know Mr Bean teddy, with the cross stitch on its eyes hehe.

Today I finally threw out the old McD winnie the pooh soft toys I collected long ago. Already threw most out on our last move, but kept two, the one in a bunny suit and the one in a bumble bee suit. But finally, still throw. Sean's keeping most of his Ty stuff.

Mine bring their toys too. Two each but only the small ones which won't take up too much space.
As for throwing them out....haiz...everytime we picked out those less desirable ones and put them into a bag, the kids will aways say "keep one side first" when I suggest donation/throw. The next time we see them again, (the next move), the kids will look at them like they are new! How to throw like that?
I think mommy also sa-ma sa-ma...I still kept some of the stuff toys I had when I was young!
In fact, I regretted throwing out some! They have names too! Sob sob!

Haha Sandy, you are so funny. What were the names of your soft toys. I'm actually less passionate about soft toys than my kids are.

I never had any soft toys when growing up. The first doll I got was rather ugly, cos the doll's hair was made of the same plastic material as the rest of the body, just molded into the shape of hair. haha...

Mine would end with 明 and my elder sis's would end with 麗. The 1st character would be the colour of the stuff toy. So I had 黃明 & 棕明。 My sis had 紅麗 & 白麗. 黃明 is still around while 棕明 is not. :( Even my kids think those names were funny!
They named all their stuff toys too. One of the worst must be 鐘八 - a colourful penguin bought in Australia for the boy . At least dd's penguin has a better name - Jean Yani. LOL!

Haha, Chinese names! My kids' toy names have included Buzzy the Ty Bee, Goochie the Ty Jellyfish, Bryson the Malaysia Airlines giveaway tortoise, Marco the Ty Rainbow bear, Dogsby the Ty dog, Bobo the fat tortoise, Bonka-Dinka the Nemo tortoise, Bigple and Littleple (a mother and child tortoise pair), Bluebear the Ty blue bear and Fluffy the Precious Moments Whale :)
