Scooby Dooby Dooby Doo ooo ooo...

Sean absolutely detests the cartoon Scooby Doo. Every time it comes on, he'll shout for the tv to be turned off or if Brian continues watching, he'll run off to his room.

This evening, the show came on. He started his nonsense again, "Turn it off, it's boring!"

I teased him, "But I like it."

He said, "Well, I don't. It's boring and it's always so obvious what happens in the end."

I laughed, "Really? What always happens?"

"First, they'll get chased by monsters, and it's not funny, and then in the middle when they get chased by monsters, they'll meet some people, and then they trap the monsters, and then they take off the monsters' heads and then the people they met are the monsters. It's always, always, always the same thing, it's boring."

I am with Sean on this...I find Sloppy Dooby..oops I mean Scooby Dooby unattractive as a cartoon. I typically walk away in the past when the show came on. LOL

:) I used to like Scooby Doo as a kid. In fact, I remember thinking Hanna-Barbera cartoons (eg Flintstones) were better than the Disney ones (then Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck). Kids these days are exposed to more sophisticated fare, so won't enjoy the old cartoons.

Oh I actually like FlintStones...and I don't actually enjoy the Disney cartoons as much as Tom & Jerry.

I cannot quite explain why..I suppose it's just in the gut.

You know what...I realise that Tom & Jerry is timeless...every kid I know loves it. My kids can never resist the show, we even have dvds with tonnes of episodes on it, they just love the show.

I liked watching Flintstone's home appliances, hehe, the elephant trunk tap, bird beak turntable, pig garbage disposal, and can't remember which jurassic creature was the vacuum cleaner. Funny :)

I agree with Sean. Scooby Doo is stoopid.

Scooby and Shaggy are quite funny what, the way Scooby gulps and laughs and jumps atop Shaggy (or is it the other way round) :) The one who annoys me most is his nephew Scrappy.

My vote is with Sean too :-)
It is always the same predictable story line. Then again, most cartoons are : Tom and Jerry - cat always chases mouse, fails to catch mouse and gets messed up instead.
Road Runner was the MOST repetitive - always that "beep beep" sound, gets chased by the coyote, various types of bombs/ anvils are used, no success...
My favourite was Flintstones, that catchy opening tune and all the Stone age substitutes for modern equipment.

Yalah, most of the plots are predictable. I am always rooting for the underdog, and by underdog, I'm talking about Tom in Tom and Jerry, the Coyote in Roadrunner, Elmer Fudd/Daffy Duck against Bugs Bunny.

Poor Coyote never wins haha. For once, I want to see the dynamite explode in Roadrunner's face.

I agree with Sean. My youngest sis loves watching it & it used to wind me up so much. I tried watching it, I can sit one whole episode but boy, do I rage inside (because it annoys me endless).

(PS I used to like woody-wood pecker & also tom & jerry too.)

Wah, so many Scooby Doo haters haha...poor Scoobs. Aiyoh, I really really dislike Woody Woodpecker, thought he was quite pointless.

Any of you guys watched this dog Muttley and his evil master Dick Dastardly? Muttley had the funniest snigger, cracks me up every time he does it.

Tsu Lin + + said...

Yeah, Woody was abit pointless but I guess at about 4-5YO, I was attracted to his trademark laughter?

I remember Muttley! Not a fan. His snigger sounds too evil & cruel.

Lilian said...

Hee hee, his laugh is too funny, more like wheezing. He's not really evil, no choice, gotta do what his evil master says :)

Did you enjoy Gilligan's Island and Fantasy Island?

Found Muttley's infectious laugh on Youtube :P

RK LURVES Scooby, so here's a vote for him ;). I used to love it too. And Muttley - I'm so glad you reminded me - gonna introduce it too. In RK's case he's the biggest scaredy cat ever, so the predictability helps him watch to the end because it's always a scam and the world is safe again. He watches all his cartoons on Youtube because he's too freaked out by the ads on cable :o!

BTW, I tried to look for Captain Caveman a while back and couldn't find many. That was hilarious too!

Captain Caaave-MAAAAAAANNNNN!!! hahaha, love that, not sure why but I remember thinking it was funny.

Sean's a big scaredy cat too. He loves watching shows like Finding Nemo, but right before the scary bits, he'll run off to his room. And he hates it when Eddie and Brian decide to watch shows like The Mummy. But dunno why he didn't mind Matrix, we watched all 3 parts last weekend and he sat through them all.
