February fun with friends

Last week was February break. The boys spent the first two days recovering from a cold and I spent the rest of the week (till now) feeling downright lousy with bad throat, blocked nose, achy head and body, the works. But I did make time on Friday to take the boys out to meet my Thai friend May and her boys, Kant and Krit, who are Brian's schoolmates.

We first headed for Megamall to ice-skate, well, we the mummies didn't ice-skatelah. The boys did. And they had a great time. Krit was the best skater of all but Brian didn't do too badly. Sean's still feeling his way, hence the extra padding I made him wear with his snowpants and winter jacket.

An hour's worth of skating cost 100R per child (about S$5-$6) and kids under 7 go in free. Rental of ice-skates is free, but a deposit of 1000R is required. Extremely reasonable for an hour of fun.

After skating, we hung out at May's place. She has a HUGE outdoor refrigerator, a natural one too, electricity plug not required. Here's the bottle of Pepsi we had just bought placed right outside her house.

The boys mucked around for more than an hour outside, sliding, throwing snowballs and having a great time.

If I photoshopped the houses behind, this will look like they're on a mountain-climbing expedition.

The rest of the afternoon was spent playing Wii...

...and watching Pokemon Spoof etc on the internet. Not quite sure what they were up to actually, May and I were downstairs the entire time.

I like this picture of the 4 boys. They get along swell; May and I think we should go on a holiday together, now it's a matter of convincing the husbands.

Left after a sumptuous dinner of tod mun pla (thai fish cake), squids and tomyamgoong. An authentic Thai dinner to end a day we all enjoyed thoroughly. Ahhhh...lovely.

Wah, snow!!! My kids would so love to see that, sounds like it's really cheap to get an hour of fun skating. Very very nice pics!

:) Yeah, cheap and good fun. I wouldn't want it any other way. Better still was the non-sled sledding, entirely free!

My friends' 2 boys love to have us, or anyone for that matter, over...cos that means no need to practise piano! It's a rare occasion that we get to get together cos these 2 are always busy with practice, performances and competitions.

Btw, Kris Allen, yayyyy...oops you haven't watched hor...:P

Kris Allen got in?? Yay!!! But want to kill Mediacorp, they only showed HALF of AI yesterday, cut off to show stupid local show!!! Tonight then show second half plus results show. So annoying.

How annoying! I would be so cheesed off. But you managed to watch Kris Allen? He's a cutie, but I'm sure he's gonna get thrown under the bus ala Jason Castro soon enough. The chosen ones are Danny Gokey, Adam Lambert and possibly Von Smith, definitely Lil Rounds. Group 2 was the strongest I think. Group 3 looks really weak.

Kris Allen was the last one before kena cut off. Well, you'll never know how the season plays out. Sometimes early favourites die off after some bad performances. Aren't you glad that Norman guy didn't make it??

Lilian said...

Well, sometimes they don't have bad performances, but the judges criticize them so much that the American voters (who are like sheep) can't even tell they're being manipulated. Judges say goood, they think goood, judges say baaad, they think baaad. Idjits!

Hallelujah & Good Riddance to Norman Gentle Not Funny At All Nick Mitchell. Such a farce. Could have been Jamar singing up there.

I thought that Misha girl was very good, better than Allison. I think she didn't get thru cos judges gave her bad reviews (which were so unwarranted) and praised Allison to the sky. I hope she makes it thru the wildcard show.

Lilian said...

Misha's the one who sang that Jupiter song? Yeah, she sang well, but doubt she'll get the wildcard, the judges are gonna give that to that Megan girl, the one that dances by swinging her hips left and right like a Kindergartner. The other wildcard for this week, probably the Coldplay guy.

I miss snow!

If only it were like this last year this time...

I thought you got plenty of snow last year...I remember lots of pictures of you guys sledding and all in Germany.

There was only lots of snow in winter 05/06. Subsequent winters snow was bare and rare!
And then just one month before we flew back, there was some snowfall. But not enough lah... I got two sleds leh!

Last March, we drove to the mountains, just to make sure our Easter was white.

I'm the snow crazy sort!!!!

Lilian said...

Can you believe we don't even have a sled? No fun snow equipment at all, my poor deprived kids. Only reason we got the ice-skates was cos they were compulsory for PE.

Hey.... got get one now before all the snow's gone!
Tell ya, it's actually more for ourselves than it was for the kids. :)

Go wheeeeeeeeee!

Madam, it's March already! My next buy is gonna be some really good roller blades. Figure if the kids can ice-skate, they should be able to finally roller blade now.
